Killing a Trojan killed the keyboard

I picked up some malware from facebook (some type of trojan). I’ve run my AVG and Malware Bytes scanners and believe I’ve removed the offending bits. But now my keyboard does not work. If I boot in Safe mode, no problem. But if I boot all the way, the keyboard doesn’t work. I’ve disabled all startup processes in MSCONFIG with no effect. I don’t know if there is leftover malware or something in Windows has been corrupted. What do you recommend to solve this problem?

My system is Dell Dimension E510 using WIndows XP Pro.
