laptop will not switch on

My acer extensa laptop is having powering up problems. If i press restart while laptop is on , it restarts ok. If i put it to sleep , it will restart ok, But if i put it into hibernate or close down, i have to wait hours before i can switch it on again… I would appreciate any help
