links in Outlook 2003 Email open browser but not URL

Within the last month or so (I was away for from the computer for a little while) whenever I click a hyperlink in Outlook 2003 (not Express), it will open my default browser (Firefox) but does not navigate to the URL – it displays my start page.

Changing the default browser to IE resulted in the same behaviour.

Any suggestions are appreciated.
