I just got off the phone with my credit union. Within the past 6 months or so they have implemented something called ‘Secure Key’ for securing online access to accounts.
It never worked consistently ? let me access my account – when I was using Windows and IE6. But now that I have moved my primary OS to Ubuntu, use Firefox and Epiphany it ‘functions consistently’. It never lets me access my account!
My guess is that this is a common problem for Linux users. Not only are the PC component manufacturers a difficult lot to engage in supporting Linux, a whole lot of the rest of the corporate world functions under the assumption that there is no OS but Windows out there in home user land.
I am curious to know what other stories Linux users have to tell in relation to secure online banking and investing. Do Mac users come across the same problem?
