listen32.exe

by aldanatech . Updated 21 years, 9 months ago

I have a Windows 98SE system with a weird problem. When I double-click on the C: drive from My Computer, I get a Program Not Found dialog box. It reads, “Windows cannot find listen32.exe. This program is needed for opening files of type ‘File’.” and it asks me for the location of listen32.exe. When I look at the registry, I find it in AutoRun as Default in Name and “C:\listen\listen32.exe\listen\data\startup.ast”. I tried deleting it, I tried deleting AutoRun altogether but it useless. Every time I reboot the system it reloads itself. Any ideas?
