local m/c missing from logon drop box

In our compaq Proliant 8000 server we have NT Enterprise server 4.0. However the logon drop down box only cantains the name of the domain and NOT the machine name.

1. You cannot type in the machine name
2. Creating users with local login rights does not bring the local machine
3. Compaq says that it not the problem with m/c as others Proliant do give the domain name and local machine choice
4. other servers do give the local machine and domain name option – installed using the same NT CD5. machine has 1 processor and 1 GB memory, 40 GB hard disk

I need to know why the machine name does not show and how I can solve it. I need to install oracle express on my machine which requires local machine login and not domain login.
