Locating FTP connection from list of active connections in command prompt

I have two command prompts open. One that is ftp to ftp.microsoft.com , but didn’t not completely log on with a user name and password. In the other command prompt window I entered “netstat -an” to view the list of active connections. However, I do not see the connection to the FTP site. Is there a reason why I am not able to view the connection?
