Looking for automated inventory software

by jeffl . Updated 25 years, 9 months ago

My company has a new IT manager who thinks we would be better off with an automated system to track all of the hardware and software across our network. I am currently looking at Tivoli, Track-it!, and ZAC but I haven’t found exactly what we need.
We want software that will look at all files and software on each PC. We want to be able to search for files by type (.mp3, .jpg, etc.) We also need it to look at versions of Windows and Office and be able to give us a report as to how many licenses we have used. Remote administration and file update would also be a plus.
Someone mentioned to me that they used to use a suite from Intel but I cannot find any information on the internet about it.
Any information about the Intel suite, the software listed above, any other software that fits the bill, or reviews/comparisons needed!
