mac/window networking issue

My IT department has helped as much as they are able. I am trying to connect two G4s running OS 10.3.8 to our windows network.

With the IT dept. we were able to get them “plugged in” to the network. I can view our intranet site and when I go to network I can see all the drives, however, every time I select and click on one of them I get “the alias “name” could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found” message.

I also cannot connect to the internet.

This is a large healthcare organization and I am in the graphics dept. so I am a low priority for our IT people (as I should be). They readily admit they are in the dark also.

We are using TCP/IP, DHCP.

Any help?
