Malware and Virus

Hi all…My friend is having a heated arguement with his Manager.It’s not much of a topic to argue on but…it gets a bit annoying at times.

What is the difference between a Malware and a Virus…

Manager claims a malware is something that installs it self on a computer without the users knowlegde…and a virus is just a piece of script that runs on your computer.

My friend claimed that Malware is sort of a techincal term for virues, trojans, worms, spyware..etc

Who’s right and who’s wrong??

And what are your thoughts on this?
