I asked last week about editing registry files from Dos to solve a virus caused problem with Windows XP returning to logon window. I got help from a number of you, someone suggested UBCD, this worked like a charm.
I had to get some help with working through the ls prompt to get the keys to show up, etc, but we found the problem in the userinit file in winlogon. The virus had set it to return to winlogon instead of userinit32.
edited it and it works. Thanks to all who resonded, including TK and seanferd and the one who suggested the UBCD.
