Map network drive question

I’ve had a request from my IT director to look into this.

He wants to know if there is any way, when we map a drive letter on the users PC that the user can only see the folders they are allowed to access.

Currently if you look at the network user folder – U: – you will see all the users folders (but obviously can only access the ones you have premisions for) but we would like not to even see the others. Any ideas if this is at all possible??
