Max licenses inside MSDN subscription?

by authorship . Updated 23 years, 2 months ago

I have 6 MSDN Universal subscriptions for my developers. Can somebody give me a brief review of the legal licensing that gives me? I believe that each of those 6 developers is allowed 10 licenses of each Microsoft product (W2K Server, XP Pro, Word, SQL server, etc.) to use. Are those licenses restricted to that persons PC or are they global for the company’s non-production development servers, so we could really have 60 copies of everything running, wherever the servers might be as long as it’s for development?

We are also using VMware to have a working copy of each customers environment stored on a server, so if they call for support in a few months for support we can load it and find the problems in the code. Would it be legal to have a few dozen Windows 2000 Server OS’s installed under VMware in this instance?

Thanks very much for any light you can shed.

Regards,
David
