Microsoft Access and Windows XP pro

I am running Windows XP pro and I have a micorosoft access 2002 database that has hyperlinks in it. Why can’t windows XP open them, I always get an error saying can not open file or can not find file. The hyper links work fine under Windows 2000. What do I have to change in XP to get this to work

P.S. I have made sure that my hyper-link base is correct.
