Microsoft WAIK Help?

Hello, I was just needing to ask a few questions regarding Microsoft???s ImageX, sysprep etc. The whole WAIK in general I suppose. I just started getting my hands dirty in this stuff; so far, I feel comfortable moving forward. My question is probably simple, if I image a windows XP machine (not the install.wim) but the entire contents of a XP installation, user files etc. Then attempt to put that image on a completely different machine hard drive and all. Do you have to do a sysprep to remove the drivers or will it boot up ok and let you install necessary drivers later, and if you do have to sysprep, I would defiantly appreciate someone to lay the steps down for me.
