Modifying Vista

I have read all the articles and have tried various suggestions, but I am turning to the experts at Tech Republic for the best answers. What should I do to eliminate the “bloatware” and “fades”, etc. from Vista to make it act as close as possible to Windows XP? Any solid recommendations would be appreciated.
