Monitor

Hello there. I’m having a few problums with a computer that I recently got from a family member. It’s a compaq presaio with win98 in it now the monitor is a 1990 samtron model sc-441v. Now the problum that I am having is that when I boot the computer up there about 6 or 7 screens all over lapping. I have started the computer in safe mode and installed the driver but it still happens. Could you possible send me a line if this has ever happened and if it can be fixed. Plus I do have windows xp pro it not installed yet but would that help me at all.
