MS-DOS Compability file mode vs 32 bit

by matthew.manfredi . Updated 24 years, 10 months ago

Having a tough time getting rid of this MS-Dos file mode.(System-Performance Tab) How to I get it back to 32 bit file format.

Memory: 320 MB of RAM
System Resources: 85% free
Virtual Memory: MS-DOS compatibility mode
Disk Compression: Not installed
PC Cards (PCMCIA): No PCMCIA sockets installed
Compatibility mode paging reduces overall system performance.
Drive C: using MS-DOS compatibility mode file system
So my question is this: how do I get rid of it? Do I need to re-install windows? Or is it a matter of rooting something out?

I tried the following:
Found no NoIDE nor BAD-IDE under the HKEY_local registry
FDISk
scanreg/restore
updated most of all my drivers.
ect..

Don’t know what else to do. Its affecting my PC’sperformance.

can anyone help.

PC Config:
GEForce2 MMx video card
16 gig HD
CD-ROM
CD-RW
ABIT motherboard
GenuineIntel x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 3
320MB RAM
70% system resources free
Windows-managed swap file on drive C (7790MB free)
Available space on drive C: 7790MB of 12397MB (FAT32)
