msn just signing in

Hi all,
My boss posed this question to me today. When He log on to his computer in the mornin at 8.00 he signs in on msn,however later on in the day someone who is in his contact list would see him signing later in the day or even in the afternoon but the thing is he never signs out until he leaves at 4.30pm.any reason for this behaviour.
