I’ve looked through the threads and have not found exactly my situation. I saw an answer to another multiboot question, but I don’t think I can use bootpart because my machine has an ntfs primary active partition.
I’m definitly a newbie with linux. Here’s where I’m at:
I’m trying to tri-boot my laptop using system commander — 2 instances of xp and one install of RH linux 9.
I got through the linux install OK, but I think I made the wrong choice for boot options. I picked lilo instead of grub (basically because I had heard of it ….), then got an error message from system commander saying something about my choice was imcompatible with the partion it had setup …. blah blah blah …
eventually I got through the install and managed to get system commander to show me a linux boot option …. but when I choose it I get an error saying no boot files are present.
So — I *THINK* I need to install grub onto the partition that my linux is installed to. If I can do that, thenI *THINK* the install I did should be just fine and I can start making sure the nic driver works,, etc ….!!
How would I go about getting grub installed on this partition? Is that the right thing to do? Am I hosed?
Anyone have some advice forme?
