My CPU usage is at 100% all the time

I was wondering, im using Windows XP and it always says my CPU usage is at 100%, it runs more then 30 processes and wondering how to clean this up or to fix this problem maybe make my computer run a bit smoother? or maybe somethings running that i dont know of that shouldnt!? please help
