My Network Places

Hey all,

Few questions here and I’m not even sure I’m in the right group but here goes:

There are old shared directories in the miniature My Network Places Explorer type window. You know, the little one that pops up when you browsing for a network folder or mapping a network drive? Is there a registry hack for this or some other way to get rid of them safely?

Also, how do I get rid of the silly little hand that indicates a shared resource in a peer-to-peer network and keep it from reappearing?

Are mapped network drives safe bets or should I just stick with sharing the folder as it is?
