Need a good TIF Viewer Program for Windows 7

by puterguy07 . Updated 14 years, 1 month ago

I’m looking for a good multi-page TIF viewer program that will run in Windows 7. My company’s software uses TWAIN compliant scanners to scan documents, which results in a lot of multi-page TIF files which we need to view. Most TWAIN scanning standards will only create TIF files, so I’m stuck with TIF format files.

I used to use the MS Office Document Imaging and Document Scanning programs which worked well. Unfortunately, the new MS Office 2010 has removed these programs and substituted some second rate programs in their place, which don’t work for my office.

So, I’m looking for replacement programs. It doesn’t need editing capabilities, but does need: Thumbnail view of pages; ability to E-mail the file as an attachment via a “send to” function; simplified but robust print capabilities; simple but robust navigation between pages.

Things that would be “nice” to have: Ability to cut and paste pages; ability to annotate files with comments or mark-ups; ability to OCR files and send text to a Word file; ability to at least view PDF files, and maybe annotate, cut & paste pages; ability to OCR files and search and find within files.

All of the “must have” and “nice to have” functions were in the MS Office 2003 “Document Imaging” software component which has been discontinued. If I could somehow get this back, I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
