Running Win98 and NT Server with DHCP and WINS. Had problems with Netbios name resolution. Enabled WINS with manual IP address and also tried using LMHOSTS. Fixed the problem. My question is, in what order does name resolution take place. DHCP, then Manual IP if available, and then parses the LMHOSTS file? Is this the order that Win98 uses? Which takes precedence? If DHCP assigns an IP address for WINS and there are manual IP address entries also, which one does the OS use.
