Network trouble between (2) XP Pro PCs

by jviso . Updated 20 years, 9 months ago

I have (2) PCs running Win XP Pro. They are linked by a crossover cable. I do not have them connected to the internet. I can see that there connectivity between the two PCs, but I can not see the PCs in the workgroup. I have assigned ip addresses 192.168.1.100 and 101, TCP/IP and File Sharing is checked, NetBIOS over TCP/IP is checked, NetWork adapters seem to fine in the Device Manager (no exclamation signs), I have run the Networking wizard, Computer Names are different, WorkGroup is the same…I don’t see why they don’t see each other. Could it be a TCP/IP socket error or corruption? I checked the cables with a scanner and they are fine! Well, the connection icon suggests that they are talking to each other…but the two computers don’t see each other! Could anyone give me a few suggestions??? I would really appreciate it!!! THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!!
