New LCD, new inverter, display still dark.

We recently had a lady bring in her Acer laptop for an LCD replacement. It appears that her boyfriend “dropped” it and the screen was cracked in a couple dozen places. We replaced the screen and the inverter, but the display is still dark. The VGA outut on the side of the computer works fine. Could we possibly have ordered the wrong inverter? Got a CCFL instead of an LED, or vice versa?
