New Switch giving us a headache

Hi all,

My first post here.

I volunteer for a non profit ADRA community centre doing IT work.

We recently received a new network switch to replace our old 10mb HUBS, its a DLINK DGS-1210-48.
I went ahead and plugged all the cables in our messy network rack into this new switch, but it did not work. I’ve called DLINK about it, and they say its an installation issue, and will incur a cost. Which we can’t afford.

I’ve setup the switch on my work bench to do a small scale test like this.

ADSL Modem >> DLink Switch >> Computer
And it issues an ip address no problem.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
