So now how do I utilize this new found resource?
The HP 9000 was used as a text database file server (DYNIX).
Specs on the system are as follows:
Two (2) processors at 166 Mhz
With a memory layout of:
Central Bus Speed 120
Available Memory 655,360
Good Memory Required 82,436
Total 737,916
My current system world is a network and a subnetwork on
Eithernet 10/100 Base T
Primary hardware components:
Two NT 4.0 Servers
One New HP 9000 Plus Server (Full Utilized)
Two Ethernet switches with room to grow
Router/DSU…..etc.
15 Workstations on WIN2000
The network (HP 9000 Plus) supplies resource text database
services to approximately 175 connected (online) clients.
It also utilizes one of the NT 4 servers as a gateway access and
limited file services. It houses web pages for some of these clients.
The other NT 4 server is being used for clientauthentication and
limited file serves.
We are a subnetwork/segment of a larger network (WIN 2000) which supports
all the workstations with network resources of system directories and files,
program support, email (Exchange), web page support.
With only 15 workstations we could return to a complete in house server system.
In my unknowledgeable and inexperienced state I ask if we can place
WIN2000 Server and/or Exchange on the same server

I have recently graduated into my first network position and find myself discovering a dormant
HP9000 Server utilizing Unix platform.
