Not able to save

I use Windows XP Prof with SP2 (plus their other updates)on a FAT32 boot disk. My problem is that I have noticed even though I clicked the “save email address and password” button, the next time I come back to the website my email and password were not saved. I have noted it for hotmail, yahoo, gmail, techrepublic to name a few, necessetating a re-type each time. I also noted it with other programs like Quicken 2004, Norton Antispam – I could not save the options, settings. Please help how I can solve this “could not save problem.”
