NT 2000 Professional rebooting after RM

I have a user with Win2k Professional just installed on his laptop — Dell. Any time he attempts to write to either removable media — be it Floppy or Zip 100/250 — the machine immediately reboots. I’ve never seen it and don’t know where to start. What’s the fix? I’m happy to be contacted at jmf4f0@hotmail.com if you need any other information.
