NT4.0 DHCP Server and Subnetting

by rmargiot . Updated 25 years, 9 months ago

Does NT4.0 DHCP Server support Subnetting? I have a Class C network 200.150.170.0. The DHCP server scope is configured as follows:

Start Address: 200.150.170.249
End Address: 200.150.170.254
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.248

When Iactivate the DHCP server, none of the devices on the network get a valid dynamic address. Using ‘winipcfg’ on one of the PCs shows an address of 169.254.240.210 with a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0 and the DHCP server address of 255.255.255.255.

IfI configure the DHCP Server scope with a normal subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, then the devices get their correct dynamic IP address (200.150.170.249).

I had SP3 installed with the problem and still have it with SP6 installed.

Thanks in advance,
