Occasional scrambling of harddrive

by rockalah . Updated 21 years, 5 months ago

We have a camera that takes fundus photos (also called retina photos). There are about 10 PCs that are able to link over our internal network to view these photos and 3 that are actually allowed to make changes by lightening/darkening the photos and saving back to the repository on the originating PC(ie RetScan PC). During the day I do an “xcopy” to have the photos saved in another location. Given this, we have a situation that always seems to happen at the end-of-day when all the linked PCs are shutdown and the retscan is also shutdown. The next day when the retscan is booted up, the main data drive with all the fundus photos is “scrambled”. The secondary/backup drive is usually intact. To give you a little more info, we have tried FAT32, and NTFS respectively and had the same difficulties/results. Is this a network issue? Is there something that we are missing to prevent this anomaly? It happens often enough to be concerned, but not often enough to isolate the cause…
