office 2000 wants to re isntall on XP

I have 2 computers running office 2000 on xp. Recently they have both started giving messages when you try to do things, like search a folders or sometimes when you use EI 8 that you have to re install office 2000. Any simple fixes? I would rather not get new office programs as the use of these for our business does not justify the expense
