Onboard touchpad/keyboard not working in Windows

by superp0pe . Updated 12 years, 10 months ago

I have a friend’s HP Pavilion dm4-3050us running Windows 7 Home Prem that does not recognize the onboard touchpad or keyboard in Windows, or the recovery environment.

Booting into MSDaRT, or a WinPE disc, I have the same problem. In BIOS, the keyboard works just fine. Attempting to boot to a linux live cd BSODs with the error code 0x7E, which in my experience usually means a bad hard drive. However, oboard diagnostics (which recognize the keyboard) and PC Doctor 7.5 (no problems there, either) find no hardware issues. :/

USB mice and keyboards have no problems, and virus scans inside and outside of Windows show everything as clean. Also, a full recovery did not fix the issue…

Any ideas?
