Oracle 10g Email

Hello, I would like to use SMTP email for my client who has mail Box at Gmail grop. Plz. let me know can I use ALERT for gmail IP addres or what. I plan to send qtrly 2500 emails to students. Plz. help with command for handshake to SMTP. Including Authutication
