OS restore with new CD

I am working with a company who can’t seem to find the Windows 2000 Server CD used to create one of their servers. If I had to purchase another copy would I be able to use it in a restore from backup tape? I don’t know if the product key being different at installation as compared to what is on the backup tapes for a full install would cause problems.
