outlook disconnects

has anyone seen the problem that we are having in this situation? when users setup their outlook over our frame relay link or at their houses and let the program sit for an extended period of time they have to open an email or click send recieve toget outlook to start going again. and it will pull in a que of emails that was waiting. is there anyone to stop this hang up?
