Outlook shutsdown error “RPC failed.”

by susejbose . Updated 21 years, 11 months ago

We have a Win2K Adv server as PDC, running NAT,DNS,Exchange Server 2K(Exch 2K). The clients are logging into the domain and using Win98/Win2000/WinXP as OS, majority use Win XP.
The majority of clients are using OfficeXP (Pro) some use Office2000/2003.
The enviroment has Anti-Virus solutions as e-Policy Orchestrator from MacAfee and also Symantec Server/Client Corporate 8.0.
Every thing was fine till we reinstalled Exch 2K on the server now the WinXP clients in the domain have to create a profile each time they access Outlook.
In case they donot create a new profile the mail is visible and all other folders and details are visible but the moment the client wants to send a new mail his Outlook shutsdown. If the client is using Word as editor then a Word error is displayed “Remote Procedure Call failed.” in case any other editor is used the outlook simply shutsdown.
We have tried the following :-
1. Renewed the DNS entries, flushdns.
2. Created a new user and added a fresh machine with specific IP address instead of using existing DHCP.
3. Win98/Win2000Pro/Win2KServer/Win2KAdvServer clients work without any problems. All different MS Office Suites (ieXP(Pro)/2000/2003) are working.
4. All Win XP clients have this problem we have tested all Service Pack and without it too. And all types of MS office Suites.
5. In Win XP however if the client is removed from the Domain and Logs in as the Administrator of his local machine then his outlook works perfectly but each time a password is required.
6. We cannot use a workgroup as our enviroment requires domain authentication.
7. We have tested the Exch2K server and Clients for all possible Services and these are started, even the RPCping Utility with Exch 2K doesnot indicate anything wrong.
Can we expect some help please.
