Outlook XP – won’t save my email password now

I’ve been using Outlook XP forever, and a few weeks ago I started getting the password popup when Outlook performed the send/receive. I know of nothing I have changed that would cause this.
Yes, I have checked the box ‘Save my password’

Any help would be great.
