Outside email & Windows 2000 server

by ed2967 . Updated 20 years, 9 months ago

I have what may be an obvious question, from a student of Win2K server, DNS, & AD.

In a small Win 2K server network users get outside email from our the hosting company’s mail server at mail.domain.com.
All has been working fine, a bit slow to connect at times, then suddenly it quit receiving mail from the mail server. Only a couple spam items randomly get through maybe 1 out of 10.

From the server or clients, when checking mail, a connection is made to the mail server(lightning fast suddenly, ?), no mail is transferred(hundreds waiting)and no error is produced. I verified that all is well with the mail
server using non networked PC directly on the router ahead of the server — pulls mail perfectly.

Mail Does Send.

I’m really stumpted. I can find no information except references to Exchange.

Could this be DNS related?

Any theories or info sources appreciated.
