The gist of this topic is the frustration imparted onto the end-users whenever their pc is shuffled/swapped/upgraded. Afterall, you spend considerable amounts of interaction time with your pc, and then, the powers that be determine that the pc you have is not good anymore, so they drop a new one on your desk and give you moments to transfer your previous personality to the new box. What I guess I am asking/looking for is some suggestions on the “most” _practical_ tools/approaches to alleviatingthe interminable reconfigurations/endless frustrations that invariably will follow. I know of “ghost”, but have been told that it won’t properly recognize the new hardware when the image is reapplied. But, I feel this is a red-herring reply. There needs to be a way of taking the current personality, and “laying” it down, ever-so-gently, onto the new pc, so that the reconfiguration issues are not so extensive. This becomes an issue in places where you have lots of contractors, who are charging agood-buck/hour rate, and when they get a new pc, they need/have to spend company time in properly getting the pc to an appropriate working state. Does anyone have any suggestions for this issue.
