Please go to the control panel to instal

We have an XP Pro user who after logging on, recieves the popup window that says “Please go to the Control Panel to install and configure system components.” Any posts that I’ve found on the web refer to an autorun.inf file on the root of the drive and describe a different condition than that of our user, and do not apply in their case. Anyone else run across this problem? Looking for an easy solution before we do a repair from the XP CD. Thanks!
