POP3 Email

Scenario: End user accesses e-mail on our Exchange 2003 server using POP3 from his Treo 600. After downloading, messages are marked as read in Outlook XP when he accesses his mail in the office. How can I cause his messages to remain in an unread state within Outlook after they are accesses via POP3 from his Treo? Thanks!
