Powerpoint Bullets & Graphics

I would like to create a bulleted list, (in 2000), set the animation to gray out after each bullet – and – show a graphic with the text which disappears on the appearance of the next bullet. I am currently making lists of 1 bullet, and timing graphics to make it work, but it is time consuming and the timing doesn’t quite work. Is there a better way?
