Problem with MS Word

Can anyone help. When I open a new document in MS Word then type text, when I then hit “Enter” the cursor then travels to the bottom of the page. It is as if the software is inserting a section break, but that is not the case. It’s driving me mad. I have installed SP3 and reloaded MS Office but it still does it!!!
