Reassign Drive letters within registry

by liemt . Updated 24 years, 12 months ago

Hello fellow Techies,

I have a problem, I installed a device (Parallel Port Compactflash card reader) and it took my logical drive D: and bumped up one letter to E:. I asked the vendor if there was anyway to reassign the drive letter before and during installaton? They said no. So was the problem is that I have programs that were in my D: drive switched to E: Now some of the programs I need is looking for the D: drive however it is now E: so thats where the trouble lies. I do not want to remove or reinstall these applications again. When I try using Disk admnistrator it will not let me reassign the drive letter stating the drive is locked, assuming that there are programs still attempting to look at the D: drive. So I am wondering if anybody knows where to set the drive letter in the registry? What key is it in? Im am using windows NT, but I also curious where it is set in windows 2000 and win 98. What registry key do I edit? Any suggestions would be apprecatied. Thank you
