Rebuilding a PDC

What is the best way to bring down a PDC and rebuild it. I have my thoughts and have heard a few others. I just want to find the fastest lest disruptive way of doing this.. Basicly I need to tear down the the server and rebuild it. I am realy just concerned about saving the permissions on the shares and the SAM DB.
