Recommendations on IT field of study

I am a 54 year old computer tech (retired military) currently working as a Retail manager. I want to change career directions and go to college or career school for IT. There are many possible areas of study so want advice on what might be the best area to go into. Network System Administrator, Network security, and such. Any advice? I welcome anything the professionals here can advise.
