I have a WinXP Pro SP2 machine that locks up every time I attempt to run any type of video file in either Windows Media Player 10 or RealPlayer 10, whether download, http or from my harddrive. Purely audio works fine. Playing audio CD or using data CD in the player work fine. When lockup happens only a hard reset will get me out (no ConAltDel, no task manager). Afterwards, the only consistent thing that shows up in event viewer is the above Event 10. I have tried uninstall/reinstall of WMP and RealPlayer. I haven’t tried replacing my CDROM player, but can’t see how that could be the cause since the lockup is not related to the player.
Any ideas?
