Remove IE 5

I am in need of completely removing IE 5 from several desktops. This has proved quite a difficult task. I tried using add/remove programs but when I try to install IE 4 SP2, the system states there is a previous version intalled. I am at a loss. Anysuggestions would be helpful. Thanks
